Daisy Award Winner Yari Carberry

Sweetwater Hospital Association is proud to announce Yari Carberry, RN, as the November 2026 recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This recognition celebrates Yari’s dedication to nursing and the meaningful difference she makes in the lives of the patients and families entrusted to her care.

The DAISY Award is an internationally recognized program established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away in 1999 from complications of the autoimmune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). During Patrick’s hospitalization, his family witnessed firsthand the extraordinary compassion, clinical expertise, and kindness demonstrated by the nurses who cared for him. Following his passing, his family established the DAISY Foundation to honor nurses who make a lasting difference through their work.

DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. What began as one family’s way of expressing gratitude has grown into a worldwide recognition program, honoring nurses in healt

hcare organizations across the country and around the globe.

Unlike many professional awards, the DAISY Award places a special emphasis on the human side of nursing. It recognizes that exceptional nursing care extends beyond medical knowledge and clinical responsibilities. It is found in the extra time spent comforting a patient, the reassurance offered to a worried family member, the kindness shown during a difficult moment, and the willingness to go above and beyond when someone needs it most.

Nurses often care for patients during some of the most vulnerable and uncertain moments of their lives. Their impact is not always measured by procedures performed or tasks completed, but by the comfort they provide, the relationships they build, and the compassion they demonstrate along the way. The DAISY Award gives patients, families, and colleagues an opportunity to share those experiences and recognize nurses whose care leaves a lasting impression.

Yari’s selection as the November recipient reflects the importance of these qualities and the difference compassionate nursing makes every day. Her recognition is a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a lasting impact on someone experiencing a difficult time.

Sweetwater Hospital Association is honored to have nurses like Yari who represent the heart of healthcare through their commitment to patients, families, and the community. Providing quality healthcare means more than treating an illness or injury; it means recognizing the person behind the patient and ensuring they feel supported, respected, and cared for throughout their experience.

“At Sweetwater Hospital Association, we believe exceptional healthcare begins with exceptional people. We are grateful for nurses who approach their work with compassion, dedication, and a genuine desire to make a difference.”

Please join Sweetwater Hospital Association in congratulating Yari Carberry, RN, on receiving the November 2026 DAISY Award. We are thankful for her service, her dedication to nursing, and the difference she makes in the lives of those she cares for.
